Over the past few years, Gitter has been the hub of the Nakama developer community. We at Heroic Labs have been excited to watch the community grow and each time we see someone new ask their first question or suggest an answer, our hearts have swelled with pride.

We would like to start by giving a big thank you to our one of the first people to join our community on Gitter, HeadClot.

Also, one of the top contributors, Superxwolf, who built a Sublime Text 3 plugin for Nakama (including all its usage documentation).

Another great commenter and contributor we would like to say thank you to is gupta-vaibhav, who suggested we add session variables to be available throughout the server code. We are happy to say that this is something we will implement in the near future. We like how well it matched the thoughtful design we’d recently discussed in an engineering brainstorm.

What is the next step?

As much as we love Gitter, we’re entering a new phase for the Nakama community.

So from today onwards, there’s another home for questions and discussions around Nakama and Heroic Labs is our new forum. You can find it here:

So, why the change?

The main reason is that our forum will become a long-term resource for developers working with Nakama. An answer in the forum is available to everyone who has the same question. With Gitter, answers would help those who saw them at the time but they aren’t easily discoverable later on.

Actually, that’s a major benefit of the new forum. With tagging, search, and topic subscriptions it will now be much easier to get the information you need and to connect with other members of the Nakama community.

The Heroic Labs team will be hanging out in the forums just as we have in Gitter, meaning you’ll get the same high quality answers you’ve come to expect. You’ll also find community announcements, product news, and more.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in the Nakama community forums!
