Introducing Journeys

Journeys lets you build player-specific LiveOps flows directly on the Satori console.
Satori is Heroic Labs’ LiveOps platform, a single place to understand players, deliver live content at scale, and personalize the player experience.
We’ve been listening to how studios want to run LiveOps. We’ve already built Satori into a fully integrated LiveOps platform. High-throughput event ingestion. Near real-time segments. Multi-channel messaging. Now we’re taking it further.
Journeys give you a new way to think about LiveOps: an experience tailored to the individual player. Drag and drop nodes to describe a sequence, and route players down different paths based on how they respond.

We’re really excited about this one. Here are a few highlights.
Guide the player to the next milestone
Use a journey to guide players toward a key action, the next milestone you want them to reach.
For a new player, that might be reaching the end of the intro levels. If a player gets stuck, drag and drop a Message node to send them a hint. Wait a couple of days with a Delay node. If the player is still stalled, apply a feature variant to adjust the difficulty.

Each player moves through the journey on their own clock, so someone who joins today and someone who joins next week can still reach the same milestone at their own pace.
Trigger in-game actions at any step
Any LiveOps content you’re running in Satori can be wired into a journey. Send a message, put players into an experiment, or unlock a challenge with feature flags.
We’ve extended Live Events to run on a single player’s timeline. This means a special offer starts the moment a player arrives at a step, then runs for two days from there.

Branch a journey with a Conditional node. This uses the same player data that powers your segments. Send players down different paths when they make a purchase, reach a spend tier, or clear a challenge.

Extend the flow with custom actions
When a step needs to do something custom to your game, add a Webhook and hand the next step to your own backend.
When a player unlocks a milestone tier in your season pass, Satori can call your own service with the data you configured and let your backend take whatever custom action your game needs. Use webhooks to bring your own toolchain into the flow.

Make a player flow repeatable
Sometimes, you want the same flow to come around again, but with a pause between runs. Use the Rejoin Cooldown node to put players back into a flow after a set amount of time.
That works well for things like weekly quests, re-engagement checks, or special Friday offers. Satori keeps track of the cooldown and knows when that player can enter the journey again.

See where players drop off
Once a journey is live, Satori shows you how players are moving through it. See how many players are at each step, how many have completed the journey, and where players are accumulating.
Satori’s Funnel Analysis is a natural complement to Journeys. Build a funnel from the analytic events that map to the experience you’re building, and see where players drop out and which part of the experience needs attention.

Journeys bring a new kind of LiveOps to Satori. We’ve been building toward a LiveOps platform that gives you a deeper understanding of your players. With Journeys, you can take that understanding and turn it into a map of player experiences that unfold over time.
We’re really excited to have Journeys live. Schedule a demo call to see how Journeys can work for your game!
